The basics
What Is a Balloon Garland?
A balloon garland is a long, bendable rope of balloon clusters that can trace almost any line in a room.
Clusters of balloons are built along a strip or cord, so the finished garland flexes. It can climb a door frame, drape across a mantel, run down a banister, hug the front of a cake table or wrap the edge of a backdrop. Mount it on a frame and you have a balloon arch; bend it into a ring and it's a hoop. That range is why garlands are what home hosts book most.
Pricing by the foot keeps budgeting simple. Measure the door, mantel or table, multiply, and you'll know the ballpark before you ever ask us for a quote.
Organic vs. classic
Organic Balloon Garlands vs. Classic Garlands
Nearly every garland we build is organic. Here's what the word means, and the few times a classic garland is the better pick.
What does organic balloon garland mean?
Organic means mixed sizes in irregular groupings: 5-inch fillers, 11-inch standards and 16- to 24-inch accent balloons, arranged so the garland looks full and natural rather than patterned. The result has depth and movement and photographs like a styled installation, not something grabbed off a store shelf.
What is the difference between an organic and a regular balloon garland?
A regular, or classic, garland repeats one cluster of same-size balloons over and over, giving you a tight, even rope or spiral. It's symmetrical, tidy and lighter on balloons. Organic garlands are looser and fuller and use more balloons per foot. Go classic for team colors, school colors and crisp corporate looks; go organic for showers, weddings, birthdays and anything built for photos.
Balloon garland clusters and accents
Each garland is made of small clusters, usually three or four balloons each. What you tuck between them sets the mood: chrome and pearl balloons, double-stuffed balloons in custom shades, foil stars and hearts, and confetti-filled clear balloons.

Placement
Where Balloon Garlands Work Best
If something can be hung from it or laid along it, a garland will probably fit.
Front doors and gates
Over the front door, around a courtyard gate or framing a venue entrance, so guests know they've found the right place.
Fireplace mantels
The quickest way to dress up a living-room party, whether it's a birthday, a holiday or a shower.
Staircases and railings
A garland trailing down the banister gives sweet 16s, quinceañeras and engagement parties their grand-entrance moment.
Cake, dessert and gift tables
Swagged along the front edge or laid down the middle like a runner, a table garland frames the cake in every picture.
Backdrops and shimmer walls
A garland sweeping over a panel, shimmer wall or flower wall is the photo spot we're asked to build most.
Walls, fences and easels
Garlands work on walls, backyard fences and around an easel holding a welcome sign or a grad portrait.
Marquee letters and numbers
Wrapped around light-up marquee letters or numbers to spell an initial, an age or a class year.
Storefronts and offices
Across a shop window or a reception desk for openings, sales and team celebrations.
Sizing
Balloon Garland Sizes: Picking the Right Length
Measure, then add a little. Garlands look best when they spill past the edges rather than ending short.
| Length | Where it fits | Balloons (organic, approx.) |
|---|---|---|
| 5–6 ft | A cake table, a short mantel, one wall accent | 60–110 |
| 8 ft | A 6 ft table with drape, a mantel with overhang | 100–145 |
| 10 ft | One doorway or front door, or a 7 ft backdrop | 120–180 |
| 12–15 ft | Double doors, a garland-plus-backdrop setup, a long buffet | 150–270 |
| 20 ft and longer | Staircases, long walls, stages, a full arch | 240–360+ |
Counts are estimates based on 12–18 balloons per foot for organic garlands. Fuller designs and bigger balloons change the total.
How many balloons go into a 20 ft garland? Roughly 240–360 for an organic garland. Built classic-style from 11-inch balloons, the same length needs closer to 100–130.
Styles
Garland Finishes: Florals, Greenery, Pearl, Chrome and Mini
The garland itself is the starting point. These finishes are what make it look like yours.
Balloon garlands with flowers and greenery
Work silk or fresh blooms, eucalyptus, ferns, pampas and trailing greenery into the clusters and the garland starts to feel like a floral piece. It's the top pick for bridal showers, baptisms, garden parties in Pasadena backyards and Mother's Day brunches.
Pearl, chrome and metallic garlands
Pearl balloons have a soft satin glow, while chrome balloons are mirror-bright in gold, silver, rose gold and champagne. Scatter a few through every cluster and the whole garland looks more expensive. Garlands that are all chrome are a New Year's Eve and 50th-anniversary staple.
Mini and small balloon garlands
Mini garlands are built mostly from 5-inch balloons, which keeps them delicate. They're sized for a cake table, a highchair at a first birthday, a mirror or a narrow apartment entry in Koreatown or West Hollywood where a full garland would crowd the room.
Hanging and ceiling garlands
Garlands can go overhead as well, swagged across a ceiling, above a dance floor or around a canopy or pergola. Because they're rigged to the venue, we plan and price those as custom balloon installations.
Pricing
How Much Does a Balloon Garland Cost in Los Angeles?
Every garland we make is priced by the foot. Here's where each tier starts and what changes the total.
| Garland | Starting at |
|---|---|
| Accent garland (lighter, fewer big balloons) | $24 per foot |
| Standard organic garland | $32 per foot |
| Deluxe garland (fuller, with chrome, foil and florals) | $45 per foot |
| Grab-and-go garland, 5 ft (you pick up and hang) | $110 |
| Grab-and-go garland, 8 ft | $160 |
Installed garlands carry a 6 ft minimum. Within our core Los Angeles service area, the price covers delivery and hanging.
What changes the price: the length, how full you want it, the share of big, chrome or double-stuffed balloons, florals and foil accents, installed versus pickup, and the drive. As an example, a 10 ft standard organic garland installed at your home starts around $320, and your written quote is built around your event.
Your options
Grab-and-Go Garlands vs. Installed Garlands
Either one works. It comes down to length and how much you want to handle yourself.
| Grab-and-go | Installed | |
|---|---|---|
| What you get | A finished garland you collect and hang | We deliver it and hang it on-site |
| Ideal length | 5–8 ft | Any length, 20 ft and beyond included |
| Hardware | Your own hooks or ribbon | We bring frames, weights and hardware |
| Works for | Tables, small walls, last-minute parties | Doorways, stairs, backdrops, venues |
What is a grab-and-go balloon garland? It's a ready-made garland, usually 5 to 8 feet, that you pick up and hang yourself. It's the budget option for small spaces. Anything much past 8 feet doesn't ride well in a car, and a long garland in a hot back seat on the 405 is a gamble, so longer garlands are installed.

Timing
How Long Balloon Garlands Last, and How Far Ahead We Can Build Them
Air-filled garlands hold up for days indoors, which makes the timing easy for most parties.
How long do balloon garlands last? Indoors and air-filled, an organic garland looks fresh for several days and frequently a week or more before it softens. Outdoors in shade near the coast it usually lasts the day. In direct summer sun inland, think a few hours before the balloons oxidize, fade and pop.
How early can a balloon garland be made? For an indoor party, a day or two ahead is fine, with no visible difference. A morning-of or night-before install is the usual choice. Outdoor summer garlands should go up on party day, as near to start time as is practical.

Questions
Balloon Garlands in Los Angeles: FAQ
What is a balloon garland?
A balloon garland is a long, flexible strand of balloon clusters that can hang over a door, run along a mantel or stair rail, drape across a table or frame a backdrop. Put it on a frame and it becomes a balloon arch.
How much do balloon garlands usually cost?
Garlands are priced by the foot. Ours start at $24 per foot for an accent garland and $32 per foot for a standard organic garland, installed, with a 6 ft minimum. Grab-and-go garlands start at $110.
How long do balloon garlands last?
Air-filled and indoors, several days and often a week or more. Outdoors in shade, about a day. In full summer sun in the Valley or other inland areas, a few hours.
How many balloons are in a 20 ft garland?
Roughly 240–360 balloons in an organic style, at 12–18 balloons per foot. A classic garland of 11-inch balloons needs about 100–130 for the same length.
What is the difference between an organic and a regular balloon garland?
Organic garlands mix balloon sizes in loose clusters for a full, textured look. Regular garlands repeat same-size clusters in a tight, even pattern and use fewer balloons.
How early in advance can a balloon garland be made?
For indoor events, one to two days ahead with no visible change. Outdoor garlands in summer should be installed the same day.
What's the difference between a balloon arch and a balloon garland?
The garland is the strand of balloons. An arch is a garland, or classic clusters, built over a frame so it stands and curves by itself. A garland can also lie flat along a wall, mantel or table.
Can a balloon garland be hung without damaging walls?
Yes. We use freestanding frames, tension rods, removable hooks and existing fixtures instead of tape that lifts paint. Hotels, rental homes and studio spaces almost always prohibit tape on walls, so frames are standard there.
Are balloon garlands still in style?
Yes. Organic garlands with mixed sizes, florals and a few chrome accents are the current look for showers, weddings, birthdays and holidays. The shift lately is toward softer, earthier palettes and more texture.
What are the alternatives to a balloon garland?
Fabric draping, a paper flower wall, a greenery garland or a shimmer wall. Plenty of hosts combine a shimmer or flower wall with a short balloon garland to get both looks.
